"I consider the foundation of the Constitution as laid on this ground: That 'all powers not delegated to the United States, by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States or to the people' [this comprises the 10th Amendment of the Bill of Rights]. To take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specifically drawn around the powers given to Congress, is to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible to any definition." (Thomas Jefferson, 1743-1826; US Founding Father, drafted the Declaration of Independence; 3rd US President of the US; initiated the addition of the Bill of Rights, written by George Mason)
The Republicans (normally, Republicowards) are doing exactly what the Democrats have been doing for decades: getting rid of people who don't agree with their central policies. That's how the Democrats have kept their power: they have been wholly intolerant of fellow Democrats who don't follow the Party Line exactly. Because most of the aware members of the country do not agree with their radical policies, the Dums have to keep the reins tight on who they support. Disagree with them once and you'll not get DNC support next election.
If a Democrat votes against what most of the Party wants, you will notice that the Bill passes anyway. If the leaders don't say anything about the contrary vote, then you can rest assured that it was a cover vote. That is, the particular member (or members) may live in a district or state that totally disagrees with the Dums' policies and that member wants to hide his true beliefs. Thus, a cover vote does the trick.
The Devilrats are much smarter politicians than Republicans. E.g., they have corralled the dumbest members of our society as their central voters-groups that will vote for them no matter what they do because they don't know what the Democrats are doing in the first place; the Dums have brainwashed them into thinking that they're helping them. Well, if they are why are more people in poverty as a percentage of society than when LBJ declared a War on Poverty back in 1965-$16 trillion later, what do those voters have? More poverty! More people on the public dole than ever in history relative to the population.
Yesterday, the Republicans dumped GOP establishment-backed Sen. Richard Lugar, who came to the Senate in 1976, and has been a prick since the 1980s. State Treasurer Richard Mourdock defeated Lugar in the Indiana primary and will be the Republican senatorial candidate in the Fall. At least at this point, it looks as though Mourdock believes in freedom for the people and less government power. Let's hope!
GOP establishment-backed Utah Sen. Bob Bennett and Delaware Rep. Mike Castle have already received the boot, as has the worst of all: Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter who was backed by Baby Boy Bush and Papa Bush and the GOP Establishment in every election, even though he often spit in their faces. Make any sense? That's why pundits have called the GOP the Stupid Party.
If the Republicans wake up and get more like the Devilrats politically, they will also get rid of this bunch, who will often vote for the State and against freedom: Utah Senator Orrin Hatch; Sen. Susan Collins of Maine; Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska; and Senator George Voinovich of Ohio, because even if the Republicans take over the Senate this coming Fall, they're still going to have to deal with these pure Statists. (and this is not to mention Speaker of the House, Boehner) Get rid of the above senators (a few House Members) and replace them with people who believe in freedom over statism-and the nation will be the better, because statism is evil, because everytime the State acts to make a law, a rule, or a regulation, someone loses a freedom. And maintaining as much freedom as possible is the only hope one has when there is a government of any form in place.
The way the Founders set up our government it takes a long time to gain the permanent power the corrupt Left had for almost sixty years-stealing for the State powers undreamed of by even the most cynical of those who debated the new nation, such as the great and wise George Mason who gave us our Bill of Rights (through Jefferson), without which we would have been enslaved by the State a few decades after its founding, and who called the new Federal Government a Three Headed Beast and walked away. It also takes a long time to undo the corruption.
Be patient. The leftists running the nation have far overstepped the bounds of what most of the aware nation will stand for, and one day they're going to pay for it with the permanent boot. Either that or the State will control every, single facet of our lives-which is where it is headed at this time: 5-9,12.
Even if the far Left wins the upcoming election what they will do if turned loose with that amount of power will finally so astound the nation that the people will turn on them, as they did in the 2010 mid-term election when our leftist president said, "We got trounced." But the Left never quits; they are relentless. Their lust for power drives them, and nothing will stop them short of pushing up daisies, as Ted Kennedy and others are doing. Kennedy remained a tyrannical, ranting statism until his last breath.
Most of the people trying to get elected or who have recently been elected on the Republican side believe much the same as Jefferson did, and want to return to a government that has specifically strict limits. The Democrats on the other hand want a government that has unlimited powers to control the lives of not only the American people but the world.
I believe in freedom first, over all else in the physical society, because without freedom the State will then not only control our physical lives but our minds too. Jefferson had something to say about that, too.
"I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man." (Thomas Jefferson)
For a saner more reasonable society, and a strongly restricted Federal Government:
